Who publishes this

Mini Widgets is published by Central Intelligence Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under number 16973632. Its registered office is 49 Waddington Road, London, E15 1QL, United Kingdom. It is a small operation. The tools are free, and we intend to support their upkeep with clearly labelled advertising through Google AdSense, subject to approval.

Why this exists

Most calculator sites want something from you first. An account, an email address, a trial that needs cancelling, a dashboard to configure before it will tell you anything. That is a strange amount of ceremony for a question you could answer with a piece of paper if you could remember the rates.

Mini Widgets is the opposite bet. One page, one job, an answer before you have finished reading. No account, no dashboard, nothing to install. If a stranger cannot get a correct answer here without instructions, the tool is not finished.

Where the numbers come from

The site is mostly UK money tools, which means most of it depends on tax figures that change every April and sometimes mid-year. That creates an obvious failure mode: a calculator that was right when it was written and is quietly wrong now.

Three rules guard against it.

• Every rate is read from the source. Income tax bands, National Insurance thresholds, student loan plans, stamp duty bands, dividend rates and capital gains allowances all come from HMRC and GOV.UK pages, and the URL each one came from is recorded in the code alongside the figure.
• Every page says which year it is using. Look under the heading of any money tool and you will find the tax year and the date the rates were last checked. Right now that is 2026/27, checked on 2 Sep 2026.
• Every calculation shows its working. Under each result is the arithmetic that produced it, with your figures substituted in. You should not have to take a number on trust, and if the working looks wrong to you, it probably is: please say so.

What the tools do not do

They are estimates built to help you think, not a statement of what you owe. Each page lists the assumptions it makes and what it leaves out, and those exclusions are real: a company car, a second job, an unusual tax code or a jointly owned property can all move the answer. For anything with a large sum attached, check the figure against your own records and speak to an accountant.

Your privacy, briefly

Every calculation happens in your browser. Your salary, your pension, the price of your house: none of it is sent anywhere, and none of it is stored. There is no account. Games, typing lessons, favourites and recent tools can save progress on your device; the broadband test sends generated data only when you start it. The privacy page has the detail.

How we build and maintain the tools

We build the calculators, converters and games as browser tools, with an explanation beside each one. Numerical tools show their assumptions; file converters state what their output can lose. Game and typing guides describe the actual controls and scoring rules rather than promising a particular result.

Before publishing changes we check the production build, relevant calculation and game tests, keyboard controls and narrow-screen layouts. These checks catch mistakes but cannot guarantee that every browser or unusual input will behave identically. If a result seems wrong, send us the page address and a non-sensitive example so we can reproduce it. Never send a personal document or password.

• Mortgage Repayment Calculator. The monthly payment on a repayment mortgage, and how much of it is interest.
• Mortgage Affordability Calculator. Roughly what a lender will offer, and what that reaches with your deposit.
• Mortgage Overpayment Calculator. How many years an overpayment takes off the term, and the interest it avoids.
• Dividend Tax Calculator. Dividend tax at the new 10.75% and 35.75% rates, and how your salary changes it.
• Capital Gains Tax on Property. The tax on selling a second home or a buy-to-let, and how your income splits the gain.
• Umbrella vs Limited Company. The same day rate through both structures, with every deduction shown on each side.

• Word to PDF Converter. Turn a .docx into a PDF without uploading it. The file never leaves your computer.
• PDF to Word Converter. Turn the text of a PDF into an editable Word document without uploading it. Layout is not kept.
• Merge PDF Files. Join several PDFs into one, in the order you choose, entirely in your browser.
• Split PDF. Pull a page range out of a PDF, or break it into single pages, without uploading it.
• Image to PDF Converter. Put JPG or PNG images into one PDF, one page each, without uploading them.
• PDF to JPG Converter. Turn each page of a PDF into a JPG or PNG image, at the resolution you choose, without uploading it.
• Image Converter. Convert between JPG, PNG and WebP in your browser. A batch comes back as one zip.
• Resize and Compress Images. Make a photo small enough to email or upload, with the new size shown before you save.
• Crop an Image. Drag to crop, with preset ratios for square, 16:9 and passport, plus rotate and flip.
• Remove a Solid Background. Make a flat background transparent. For green screens and product shots, not portraits.
• Black and White Image Converter. Black and white, sepia, invert, brightness and contrast, applied live in your browser.
• Currency Converter. Pounds, euros, dollars and more at the European Central Bank's daily rate, all at once.
• Temperature Converter. Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin together, with oven gas marks explained.
• Length Converter. Metres, feet, inches, miles and yards, with every unit shown at once.

• Stair Calculator. How many steps a flight needs and how deep each is, checked against the guidance for a house in England.
• Concrete Calculator. How much concrete a slab needs, and what that is in bags, in cement and ballast, or as ready-mix.
• Image Color Picker. Click any pixel for its HEX, RGB and HSL, and see the palette the picture is built from.
• Timesheet Calculator. Add your shifts, subtract unpaid breaks and see total hours, decimal hours and optional gross pay.
• Meeting Time Planner. The same meeting across cities, with local dates and daylight-saving changes accounted for.
• Savings Goal Calculator. When your balance and monthly contributions could reach a target, with an interest assumption you choose.
• Loan Repayment Calculator. Compare monthly payments and total interest for two fixed-rate loan plans.
• Appliance Running Cost. What a heater or other appliance costs to run, from its watts, hours used and your tariff.
• Holiday Entitlement Calculator. Statutory leave for a regular working week, including part-time work and joining or leaving midyear.
• Paint and Tile Calculator. Paint tins or tile packs for your room, after excluding openings and adding a waste allowance.

• Typing Speed Test. Measure words per minute and accuracy over 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds.
• Learn to Type. Learn finger placement, practise each keyboard row and revisit your difficult keys.

If a figure looks wrong, or a rate has changed and a page has not caught up, please write to hello@mini-widgets.com. Corrections are genuinely welcome and they get made quickly. It is the single most useful thing anyone can send.
