How to play

Turn over two cards at a time and find the matching symbols. Choose four pairs for a short round, eight for the classic board or twelve for a larger challenge.

  1. Choose the number of pairs for the next game, then press New game.
  2. Select two face-down cards. Matching cards stay visible; different symbols turn back over.
  3. Clear all pairs and compare your move count with your best for that board size.

What counts as a move

One two-card turn is one move, whether or not the cards match. A four-pair board needs at least four moves because each move can reveal only one pair. Finishing it in six moves means two turns were unsuccessful. Compare records for the same number of pairs; a twelve-pair board naturally needs more turns.

Remember positions, not just symbols

Give the grid a simple mental map, such as top left, middle right and bottom row. When a new symbol appears, pause long enough to connect it to its position. If the first card of a turn has a known partner, use that information before opening a new location. The visible symbols keep the task independent of colour recognition.

Common questions

Why did changing the pair count not change this board?
The selector applies to the next game. Press New game to deal the chosen board size.
Is this a clinical memory test?
No. It is a matching game. Familiarity, attention and board size affect your result, so it does not assess health or diagnose a condition.
