How to use this tool
Break a task into a period of focused work followed by a deliberate rest. The timer is adjustable, so the session can fit the task rather than interrupting at an arbitrary moment.
- Set the focus, short-break and long-break durations before starting.
- Press Start. Pause if you need to stop, or reset to begin the current phase again.
- A completed focus session advances the count. A long break follows every four completed sessions.
Plan a manageable work block
Write down one action you can finish or meaningfully advance during the session. The default pattern is 25 minutes of work and a 5-minute short break, with a 15-minute long break after four completed focus sessions. Four work sessions, three short breaks and one long break total 130 minutes. Adjust the durations if a smaller task needs a shorter block.
Know what happens in the background
The countdown uses the intended finishing time, so it catches up when you return from another tab. A suspended browser can delay the optional sound. Each new phase waits for you to press Start instead of silently continuing through unattended work sessions. Settings and completed-session counts are saved in this browser when storage is available.
Your progress and privacy
No account is needed. Personal bests, preferences and saved progress stay in this browser where supported. They do not sync between devices. Keyboard and mouse test events are never saved. You can clear saved activity from the home page; the privacy notice explains consent and measurement.
Common questions
- Will it keep timing after I close the page?
- Do not rely on it as an alarm after closing the page. Background tabs catch up when reopened, but closing or reloading ends the current in-page timer.
- Does skipping to a break count as completed work?
- No. The completed-session count increases when a focus countdown finishes, not when you skip ahead.
