How to use this tool
A useful typing result includes accuracy as well as speed. Use the same test length and text mode when comparing sessions, because punctuation and short bursts change the difficulty.
- Choose 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds and either everyday words or sentences.
- Read the first few words, then type in the box. Your first character starts the clock.
- Use Backspace to correct mistakes. At the end, compare WPM and accuracy together.
How the result is calculated
One standard word is five correct characters, including correctly typed spaces and punctuation. WPM = correct characters ÷ 5 ÷ elapsed minutes. For example, 150 correct characters in 30 seconds gives 60 WPM. Accuracy uses typing attempts: 196 correct attempts out of 200 is 98%. A mistake still counts against accuracy after you erase it.
Make practice repeatable
Try one 60-second test as a starting point, then practise slowly enough to avoid repeated corrections. Use sentences when you want to practise Shift and punctuation. Compare several runs on the same keyboard; a single unusually fast run is less useful than a steady improvement with similar accuracy.
Your progress and privacy
No account is needed. Personal bests, preferences and saved progress stay in this browser where supported. They do not sync between devices. Keyboard and mouse test events are never saved. You can clear saved activity from the home page; the privacy notice explains consent and measurement.
Common questions
- Why did the test stop when I changed tabs?
- Leaving the page stops the test without saving a personal best. Start a fresh run when you can keep the test in focus.
- Can I paste text or compare my score with other sites?
- Pasting is disabled. Other sites use different passages and scoring rules, so compare results from the same mode and duration here.
