Paint and tile calculator
Room dimensions in, paint tins or tile packs out. Subtract doors and windows, then add an allowance for cuts or touch-ups.
Measure the surface first
For a rectangular room, wall area is twice the length plus width, multiplied by wall height. Floor or ceiling area is length times width. Subtract the total area that does not need covering.
Use the product’s coverage
Paint coverage varies with the surface and product; enter the figure from the tin. The calculation applies coverage separately to each coat. Textured or porous surfaces may need more.
Round to whole packs
Tile counts are based on face area and rounded up before calculating packs. Grout spacing and a detailed cutting layout are not modelled. The extra allowance covers some breakages and offcuts; complex patterns can need more. Keep spare tiles from the same batch.
