Holiday entitlement calculator

A statutory leave estimate for a regular working week, including part-time hours and joining or leaving during the year.

Your working pattern

Regular-hours workers only. GOV.UK guidance checked 30 September 2026.

Pro-rata estimate–
Equivalent hours–
Full-year statutory allowance

Rounded up to a half-day for planning

Bank holidays may be included in this allowance; they are not added on top. A contract may provide more leave. This uses calendar-day pro-rating, not a first-year monthly accrual scheme.

A regular working week

The statutory starting point is 5.6 weeks a year, capped at 28 days. For three working days per week, that is 16.8 days. The hours result assumes each working day has the same length. See GOV.UK’s entitlement guidance.

Joining or leaving during the year

This estimate scales the full allowance by calendar days employed within the leave year, including both dates. It handles leap years. The half-day figure is a convenient upward rounding for planning, not a claim that every employer uses that rounding rule.

Employers may use monthly accrual in the first year, and contractual leave can differ. For irregular-hours or part-year workers, use the official calculator; their accrual rules are different. Read how leave entitlement is calculated.
